Only a few towns service the travelers who venture into the wild territory between Lake Winnipeg and Ontario. Lac du Bonnet, a town of around 1,000 people on the shores of the Winnipeg River, is the gateway to Atikaki,Nopiming, and Whiteshell Provincial Parks. Bissett is small and remote, but it is the closest town to Atikaki and not far to the northeast of Nopiming. Charter flights leave both towns for the surrounding parks, but other tourist services are limited, with Lac du Bonnet as your best option for last minute shopping and accommodations.
