Canadian Highway 105 leads through Ear Falls and ends at Red Lake—two of the last outposts canoeists can reach by car before going to Woodland Caribou or Opasquia Provincial Parks. Ear Falls is a smaller town (pop. 1,150) on the shores of the English River. Further up the road, Red Lake is a bit larger (pop. 2,200) and the region’s predominant commercial district. Both towns offer dining, lodging, outfitters and float plane service to the myriad of lakes and rivers that extend into this sub arctic wilderness region; Ear Falls is a few miles closer by road while Red Lake offers more services to make the ultimate choice yours.
