New Museum of Canoe History and Heritage Opens

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Celebrate the Grand Opening of the Wisconsin Canoe Heritate Museum this weekend!

Its worth the trek to Spooner Wisconsin - this new museum exhibits an eclectic assemblage of boats that is exciting in its diversity, and includes significant craft from the golden age of North American canoeing, as well as work by important contemporary builders. The building traditions of the eastern seaboard, the mid-west, and Canada will all be represented, providing the visitor a fascinating opportunity to experience the evolution of canoe design and manufacture in historical context. The Wisconsin Canoe Heritage Museum Grand Opening Celebration will be from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday May 29th at 312 N Front Street in Spooner, Wisconsin.

Enjoy live music by Les Fils de Voyageurs, The Porch Dogs, and Tom & Jed. There will also be hot food, cold beverages, canoe raffle tickets, and museum merchandise offered for sale. A glimpse of a few ad hoc projects underway in the attached canoe shop may also be available, and the first official tours of the museum exhibit hall will be offered immediately following the ribbon cutting and the unveiling of an inaugural exhibit entitled “Reflections on the Water: A Celebration of Wisconsin Canoes.”
