I did the two-day traverse from Little Tupper Lake to Lake Lila in the Adirondacks a few weeks ago. Black flies were hellacious, but the waterways and the scenery were great. It involves several carries, one nearly two miles long. I was disappointed that the state has not yet marked and signed the portage trails. However, you'll find surveyor's tape along all the trails. The trip takes you across two lakes, four ponds, and parts of four streams.
I plan to write a story about the trip in the next issue of the Adirondack Explorer. It also will get into some issues of public navigation. Meantime, here's something from my blog.
