this forum really needs a backcountry cooking section (or did I just miss it?) - I'd like to post a recipe or three but am unsure what would be the best location
sorry I haven't posted here really - just have been really busy - new house (well new to us - built in the mid-late 1800's) and so many other things
anyway I have some news - after years of working on my wilderness cookbook it is finally a reality - I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that helped me with this - the support from people online has been tremendous and I couldn't have done it without that

Thanks for posting a link to your cookbook!
Conversation on the site is kind of scarce lately. But I'm sure it will pick up when the weather warms and the water bug bites us again!

I was bit by the bug many years ago and the sucker never let go! Just goes into hibernation over the winter.
The bug I have also causes what is known as "Cabin Fever". This illness only happens in the winter and causes those afflicted to over-post, post thoughts and feelings about the trips they had, post pictures of past trips and spend too much time on the net browsing everything and anything canoeing related.
It's forums like this that will help those affected get over the hump until spring arrives once again.
Maybe a "Backcountry Cooking" section" or even just a "Outdoors Cooking" section might be good idea.
That would let us sickly cabin fever types read up and try the recipes posted at home. This would also help us whittle away at the winter days until the ice melts and we can be back on the water again.

I take that as, Dave, not being much of a Sternsman, EH!:D
Just remember someone's got to lead the ship the rest of us just a paddle a few feet behind all the time.

Congrats on the cookbook (http://www.aforkinthetrail.com/)! Mmmm... we can't wait to 'review' it and test out the recipes. Your idea about a backcountry cooking section in the forums is a goodie - I'm collecting feedback about the forums and the site in general over in the 'Canoeing.com FAQ (http://www.canoeing.com/vb/showthread.php?p=807)' I'd love to hear more ideas! Sorry I can't make people talk more, I know I'm still sluggish from the long winter.
